RGR009 - Kol

Our sailing expedition in Alefgard began with us traveling northward along the western shore of the western continent until we reached the future site of the village of Garinham. There was no town there yet, though there was a single house where the town's namesake, Garin himself, lived. Garin had gone off on a journey of some sort, and had apparently taken the Silver Harp with him. I wasn't sure I believed that, so we checked for a secret passage out the back of the house, just like the one in Dragon Warrior that led to the cave with the Silver Harp, and sure enough, we found the harp in the exact same place.

Next we sailed west, figuring we'd wrap around and hit the eastern continent. But we were surprised to find that the ocean actually ended to the west, and in all directions. Alefgard seems to be a gigantic square section of land and ocean, floating in the darkness. So we had no choice but to continue along the northern shore sailing eastward, passing by a chain of islands, one of which was home to an eerie tower, until we reached the northeastern corner of the map, where we found the village of Kol.

You should be happy he's gone.
You should be happy he's gone.
Actually, we were just making small talk.
Actually, we were just making small talk.

I guess he was wrong.
I guess he was wrong.
It's the end of the world!
It's the end of the world!

Kol was just as I remember it from Dragon Warrior, a collection of huts in a forest clearing. Here we learned that the Sword of Kings, likely to be the most powerful sword in the world, was shattered to pieces by Zoma. I wonder if we'll need to reassemble it. We also met a swordsmith and his wife from Jipang, who fled during that whole Orochi thing. You know, before we killed it.

Where's your bathroom?

So he's like a house flipper.

But... I wanted it...
But... I wanted it...
No thanks.
No thanks.

So we just use it on him then?
So we just use it on him then?
And now you're stuck here.
And now you're stuck here.

I thought it put golems to sleep.

It does sound like a Japanese band name.

Do you believe he came from Jipang?

So, as always, it's up to US to rescue her.
So, as always, it's up to US to rescue her.

Maybe if we can find some Oricon, we can have the swordsmith make us a brand new Sword of Kings. You know they wouldn't bring it up if it weren't important.
