RGR009 - Freeing Rubiss

With the Sword of Kings now firmly in my grasp, it was time for us to brave the tower where Rubiss is sealed. It's a surprisingly short trip from Kol. There were two men on either side of the tower, one to the east who hinted that we'd need the Fairy Flute (no problem there), and another to the west who told us about some sort of revolving floor that I guess we'll run into inside.

As we proceeded up the tower, there was little out of the ordinary until the third floor, where we found there were two ways we could go: a stairway immediately to the north led up to the fourth floor, and a path westward led around the perimeter of the tower to a drop-off on the north end. Since we hadn't been able to get to the northern parts of each floor, that had our interest piqued, but we decided to hold off and try the stairway first.

I think this is the last tower.
I think this is the last tower.
Why even bother with doors now?
Why even bother with doors now?

We do, and we will.
We do, and we will.
Let's see... one foot forward, then the other...
Let's see... one foot forward, then the other...

The revolving floors are actually a little tricky; walking on them is like having your controller tilted 90 degrees, so vertical becomes horizontal and vice-versa. But as long as you remember that, you can avoid falling into pits by only pressing up or down when there's a drop-off directly above or below. On the fourth floor, we found a platform that jutted out over a pit, and at the end of it, a chest. After carefully navigating the revolving floors, we reached the chest, which contained the Armor of Radiance!

There was nowhere else to go on this floor, so we went back down to the third floor and headed for the drop-off there. We landed on the ground outside the north side of the first floor, and had to climb all the way back up. Fortunately, this back portion of the tower was simpler, and before we knew it, we had reached the top floor. There, a hallway wrapped around the outer edge of the tower, with a large room on the inside, and a smaller chamber in the center of that. Inside the center chamber, we found a solitary statue standing in the corner.

When Viron played the Fairy Flute near the statue, it transformed into yet another elf-like fairy spirit, and this one identified herself as Rubiss. She gave us the Sacred Amulet and promised that she'd return the favor one day if we destroyed Zoma.

Told you we'd find it.
Told you we'd find it.
I'll bet this is the statue we're looking for.
I'll bet this is the statue we're looking for.

Hey, look at that! I was right!
Hey, look at that! I was right!
I think I know when someday will come.
I think I know when someday will come.

So my theory holds up about how the game will end. Now that we've got all of the hero's accessories and the sacred items, all that's left is to create the Rainbow Drop, use it to make the bridge to Zoma's island, and storm the castle.

Easy, right?
