RGR009 - What Nice Pirates!

Having wandered from shrine to shrine, we weren't quite sure where our boat was, but rather than warp somewhere and have the boat reappear near us, we warped around some more, until we wound up in a familiar shrine with an unfamiliar face. At night, in a shrine that we eventually realized was the shrine north of Assaram, a soldier we hadn't seen before told us about a shrine jail in the middle of the lake nearby. So we plotted our course, warped to Eginbear Castle, and sailed around to enter the lake.

But as soon as we entered the narrow channel leading to the lake, a mysterious force pulled us back, and a "plaintive voice" was heard. Try as we might, we couldn't get through to the shrine, which we could see ahead of us. We eventually gave up on the task and, looking at our map, realized we were very close to the midst of the four mountains a strange cat had told us about earlier. We disembarked and hiked to the spot, and there we found the Leaf of the World Tree, another throwback to Dragon Warrior II, which would allow us to revive one dead party member anywhere, at any time.

Really? Uh, where are we?
Really? Uh, where are we?
CREEPY.
CREEPY.

I remember these!
I remember these!
Please, we're not afraid of pirates.
Please, we're not afraid of pirates.

Starting our exploration over from Aliahan, we sailed this time to the east, around the southern tip of the eastern continent, and up to a small village which turned out to be a den of pirates. The pirates weren't home when we got there, so we waited until night for them to return. We expected a fight, but were surprised to learn the pirates were actually very nice. It looks like they may have an orb in their possession, but aren't sure where it is at the moment. We talked to the leader of the pirates, who led us in the direction of the island of Luzami.

And you stay behind to let people know?
And you stay behind to let people know?
Wait, we don't have to fight you for it?
Wait, we don't have to fight you for it?

Just telling you what you want to hear.
Just telling you what you want to hear.
Well, I suppose that's okay then.
Well, I suppose that's okay then.

Eh, it's home.
Eh, it's home.
That makes no sense out of context.
That makes no sense out of context.

But was it THE Phantom Ship?
But was it THE Phantom Ship?
I get it.
I get it.

A short boat ride later, and we were in the village of Luzami, which appears to be home to people in exile. An old man told my fortune, which was action-packed and involved a magical sword called the Sword of Gaia, as well as a volcano. Sounds pretty awesome if you ask me. We also learned that this sword was most recently in the possession of none other than the mysterious hero, Simon.

One of the pirates had mentioned an item called the Sailor's Thigh Bone, which could in some way lead us to the Phantom Ship, the ship from the legend of Errol and Olivia. He said they had given the bone to an old man in Greenlad in the north. So we made our way up there and found the old man, who confirmed he had the bone, and seems very interested in obtaining the Staff of Change. I guess we'll be setting up a trade once we oust the impostor king in Samanao.

You're ahead of your time.
You're ahead of your time.
Whoa, you saw all that?
Whoa, you saw all that?

I wonder if it's the same Simon...
I wonder if it's the same Simon...
Small world.
Small world.

This is getting complicated.
