RGR009 - Not Soo Eloquent

After chatting with the old man in Greenlad for a bit, our exploration led us southward, through a series of inland rivers, and finally to a small town of natives (the game calls them Indians, but it's 2009 now) called the Soo. I imagine they were going for Sioux, but didn't want to be too obvious. Unlike everyone else in the tribe, the Soo men spoke in somewhat fragmented sentences, like the stereotypical Native American movie character, or Tonto from the old Lone Ranger radio and TV shows. The women, children and elderly all speak perfect, complete English, and even one horse named Ed (yeah, I know) speaks more clearly and fluently than the men of the Soo tribe. Ah, how far we've come in 18 years.

Are you sure that's spelled right?
Are you sure that's spelled right?
We not believe you.
We not believe you.

Well, that narrows it down a bit.
Well, that narrows it down a bit.
Many moons? Wow.
Many moons? Wow.

Oh, we already did that... Ed the Horse.
Oh, we already did that... Ed the Horse.
So orbs and crests are similar then?

That old guy was a wizard?
That old guy was a wizard?
Oh yeah, we still need to do that.
Oh yeah, we still need to do that.

The village actually had little to offer, as the weapon shop only sells simple, weak weapons and armor. Since the old man trying to start a town was nearby, we decided then to finally recruit the merchant I created in the beginning and drop her off to help out. This merchant, Gabriela, was starting at level 1 and being taken to a somewhat dangerous area, so we were a little worried she might not survive the trip. But survive she did, and also managed to gain several levels due to the higher experience load the seaborne enemies bring. Once we dropped her off, the old man was so grateful that he passed on a hint about a hidden item in the Soo village, which turned out to be the Staff of Thunder. Hooray, Theron finally gets a new weapon!

You mean we have to go back?
You mean we have to go back?
Look, Theron! An actual weapon for you!
Look, Theron! An actual weapon for you!

With that, I think we've been just about everywhere, so it's time to head back to Jipang. There is one more stop to make, but it's basically on the way. It's a shrine on an icy island that the map calls Liamland, and that name came up once as an important place regarding the orbs.

I just hope we're strong enough to take on those enemies in the Jipang cave.
